Double Feature the iPhone App by Scott Jackson
My friend Scott Jackson has made a brilliant little app that does one thing really well. Here’s the website (also brilliant). Instead of describing it to you, I’ll tell you how I used it the other night, super organically, to solve my problem and make me happy.
My girlfriend and I are on the couch, watching Seinfeld AS IS OUR WONT and Jerry and Elaine are in line at the movie theater. Behind the glass wall of the box office is a collection of movie posters of the era (early 90s). One of them clearly features Richard Gere and maybe Kim Basinger but it’s hard to tell. So my girlfriend says to me she says “what movie is that, with Rick and Kimmy?” (because we live in Los Angeles and are friends with most celebrities) and I pulled out my iPhone, launched Double Feature and within seconds, I knew that the movie in the poster in the box office on Seinfeld had been “Final Analysis” (1992). Thanks, Double Feature.
Get it. It’s great. The design is pretty, it works like it’s supposed to, and Scott is a really nice young man, unlike William Zabka here. What a twat that guy was.
For myself, Pete, and Dan.
Susan E. Morse, the editor of Woody Allen’s Manhattan, Hannah And Her Sisters, Zelig, The Purple Rose Of Cairo, and Crimes And Misdemeanors will edit the third season of Louie.
Just when you thought the show couldn’t get any more perfectly “New York”
le ugh…perfection.
Insane. I envy his career so much.
Our new short that we shot for the iO Vidiocy Film Fest is up on our site. You should check it out!
Here’s the process: We drew a title out of a hat and then had 30 days to conceptualize, write, shoot, and edit the film to submit. Over 30+ submissions were accepted at the deadline, we made the top 9 and screened to a great audience reaction at iO.
Hope you enjoy and have yourself a laugh on this eh, Tuesday.

I drew, David Lynch, you guys… and I’m open for commissions and all that stuff.
My favorite Oscars moment:
10 years ago, only five months after September 11th, Woody Allen makes an unprecedented appearance at The Academy Awards (he had never appeared before, and has never since, and that likely won’t change this year with Midnight in Paris) to introduce a montage of films shot in New York City put together by Nora Ephron.

We Need To Talk About Kevin [2011, Lynne Ramsay]
I feel like this is the best all around movie I have seen in a while, and apparently the book is a lot better. The writing, directing, cinematography, editing, and acting all came into a perfect harmony in this film. I don’t think they could have casted this film any better either. I didn’t know much about this before I watched it, just listened to people talk a little bit about it on a couple podcasts. There were a lot of original editing techniques used in this film that worked very well for the content. Make sure you’re in a pretty mellow mood for this one, definitely not the best option for Valentine’s day tomorrow. It seems this female director likes dark subject matter since most of the films she has directed have been about morbid things. Regardless, it was very well done… Hence the tumblr post.
Finally got a chance to check it out. I don’t know how to put this without being crude…so I’m just gonna say it….holy shit cinematography boner. So many amazingly composed shots.
