I saw Dead Man’s Bones last night at Schubas and I have to say that while I was a little disappointed with the end product that was the album, the music definitely lends itself more to  a live experience. Having the children’s choir there in costume, the spooky graveyard background, black and white film break, and little interstitial ”plays” between the songs really made it enjoyable.
They were a bit unorganized and at parts it was like watching a rehearsal, but there something charming about them interacting with the kids (who were a temp choir from Chicago so it’s understandable that they didn’t have the set completely solid). Once they get more comfortable with the live show ins and outs, I think they’ll really be something to experience.
