Monday nights are for family dinners. Although this week’s was low(er) key and we were missing a few faces, they always hit the spot.

And, sidenote, a moth flew into Dan’s mouth and it was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Wow, just finished listening to the stream of the full album. Looking forward to the release even more now. Franklin Bruno’s flourishes are a very nice addition to John Darnielle’s already incredible song writing abilities.

JERRY: Oh you wanna switch? I’m sleeping on a love seat. I’ve got my feet up in the air like I’m in a space capsule.

ELAINE: I am never gonna fall asleep.

JERRY: Oh, don’t say that. You’ll jinx me.

ELAINE: How can they not put the air conditioning on?

JERRY: They’re nuts with temperature.

ELAINE: This bar is right in my back! It’s making a dent.

JERRY: How about that guy writing a check for 19.45?

ELAINE: I’m sweating here. I’m in bed, sweating.

JERRY: It’s one day. Half a day, really. I mean you substract showers and meals, it’s like twenty minutes. It will go by like that. (snapping his fingers)

Last Sunday I took a stroll and ended up walking into a carnival that had touched down in the middle of some side streets. There were rides, games, and by default carnies (smooth talking ones at that, they conned Erin into playing some high stakes ball and bucket game), so yea, pretty standard carnival antics but strange to see out of nowhere in the middle of the city.

What WAS a pleasure to see was that this Indiana Jones knock off “adventure course” was still getting some mileage. I used to love it as a kid, even more than potato sack slides. Rope bridges, slides, climbing nets, zip lines, and the art of a bootleg Indiana Jones, Mola Ram, Short Round, and Willie adorning the outside of it. Wish I had my good camera with me.

Telltale games (The people behind Monkey Island and Sam and Max) are working on a Back to the Future (as well as Jurassic Park) game of the same ilk. Concept art is above and some more news from /Film is below.

“ USA Today also offers up the following tidbits:

Will include the likenesses of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd as the characters Marty McFly and Doc Brown
Other characters from the series will make appearances, although who knows if the actors will provide their likenesses or voices. I hope they get
Thomas F. Wilson to reprise Biff Tannen. Knowing Chrispin Glover, his appearance would probably be unlikely.
Christopher Lloyd will also provide his voice for the games.
Back to the Future series screenwriter Bob Gale is working with the game developers on the story
They are planning five “episodes”.
It will be set in the fictional California setting of Hill Valley, and will explore 1985 and additional time periods.

“The games are going to exist within these worlds,” said Connors. “I wouldn’t call these games sequels per se but a new interpretation of their worlds for a new medium. For one generation, it’s an introduction to these series. For another generation, it’s a thing they can look back on and something they can share warmly with their family and friends.”

The games will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC and Mac this winter.”

Really excited to see what Telltale does with this, especially seeing as all the other Back to the Future games were pretty much awful. Remember the one for NES? For now I’m gonna throw on a puffy vest and exhaustively grasp at my forehead when speaking in anticipation.

GPOYW: Paying a visit to a third grade classroom edition. It was extremely bizarre seeing that I haven’t set foot inside a grade school in forever and can’t say I remember much about my own third grade experience. I was completely entertained by all the knick knacks, inspirational posters, and third grade handwriting, which essentially looks like my own handwriting as a 24 year old.
