New business cards coming my way! Really pumped about how these turned out and match our website theme, all done by my pal, the very talented Peter Ostrander.

Images are blown up a bit so they look a little blurry, sorry.

dimestorefilms:

The first installment of our new webseries, DimeStore Does It. In this episode we peek into the reading habits of our young hosts.

DimeStore Does It is designed to be an outlet for short gags, ideas, and micro-frivolity that can be generally shot and edited within the matter of a day or two. Summing up, it’s something to keep our hands busy. We’re very excited for this series and hope you enjoy it.

I’m really happy with the way this turned out. If you have  2 minutes and 2 seconds today, you should watch it.

We are proud to welcome the sexiest new member of the DimeStore Films Family, the Canon 7d! If you’ve seen any footage shot on one of these, you can see why we are so excited.
We cannot wait to start shooting some test footage and moving on to our new series of web shorts/instructional videos “DimeStore Does It”.

Next week I’m going to be checking the mail everyday at work like a giddy little kid. So pumped to shoot our new series “DimeStore Does It”

Here’s the write up from Chicago Magazine on the Backyard Film Festival, which our film is in this July. They didn’t use much of our interview (eh, what can ya do) but our film is mentioned/given a synopsis in the sidebar and a still from it (Me as “Serling”) is front and center. Annnd it’s a great article promoting the festival and the efforts of Fred Koschmann (the guy who started it) to expose more people to local independent film.
Neat.
As it gets closer I’ll post some more info about the festival, I hope some of you Chicago people can make it out…and clap really loudly for our film.

You’re hired, when can you start?
We’ll order you an old ska band tshirt (per Hunter’s request), some boat shoes, and a Dinosaur World hat (per my request).
Goddamn this would be great…If only we had this kind of pull in real life.

35 Plays

Hunter and I (AKA: DimeStore Films) were trying to record a cover of Mel Danmel’s version of “All of Me” for a project.

We did about 10 takes so we should be able to piece together something out of those. When it’s done…and hopefully it sounds good…we’ll be excited. Until then, here’s an outtake of the botched ending.

After they made some tweaks in our favor and clarified some items, we have signed the contract to go forward with the production of our first feature, tentatively titled “The Origins of Wit and Humor”.

It is an exciting day! Also extremely terrifying to think that we have to start taking ourselves more seriously. We’re all growns up.

Hey, we’re makin a feature!

The more we write on our feature, the more this notebook resembles the one from Seven.

It doesn’t help that my handwriting also looks like a serial killer’s.

I recently started a tumblr for our (Mine and Hunter’s) filmmaking moniker DimeStore Films. Our slick new website is almost done and when it is this tumblr will be integrated into it.

It might not be much now but it’ll grow into a beautiful monument to frivolity and independent filmmaking. Please give us a follow to see new short films, musings, and other DimeStore related news.

Origins

idontgetrunnershigh:

I just finished reading Christian and Hunter’s draft script. In reality I could have finished it all in one day because it was simply just that good, but then what would I have done this morning? I knew where all the characters came from, and the references from real life drew me in deeply to the story. As it stands, the script would make an excellent piece of fiction, but perhaps since I know them both well, or because they are actually very good writers I could see how they would shoot this film in my head. It looked amazing. It is peppered with references to pop culture of the 90s which I sincerely hope I won’t be the only one to pick up on, although I suspect I might be. My name is also used, which brought a smile to my face.

Long story short, it had my laughing like an idiot in my cube while the rest of the office was quiet. My only questions is which character was I…? I mean you’re best friend should obviously fit into some archetypal role here. Was it the guy with the cake… damn I knew it.

Aw shucks.

I’m in the picture business, I make pictures

We just got back from our meeting with the producers/production company that liked out script. While trying not get ahead of ourselves, we’re happy to say that they want to move forward with it and will be sending us a contract along with reviewing our second draft in the coming month.

Needless to say, this is huge for us and tonight, we’re celebrating this victory.

Ya gotta have a plan and ya gotta have kick ass lightning bolts.
We’ve got a lot on our plate this year (in no particular order) but you can’t say we aren’t making a dent. Look for our new(ish) short film, the Twilight Zone inspired “A Sip From A Certain Fountain”, next month and for all those in Chicago, you will be invited to the premiere party/screening for it in the near future (we’re looking at the last two weekends of February as our options).
