Watch the two-part Woody Allen PBS American Masters documentary here. Fun fact: the split screen in Annie Hall was merely an optical illusion to ensure Allen and Keaton’s comic timing was spot-on. Incredible.

The documentary was as great as I wanted it to be, had a grin on my face the whole time. Goddamn I love that man.

This is just turning into a Woody News Blog

“Coming off Midnight in Paris, his biggest financial success in decades, Woody Allen is ready to shoot his 2012 film. It’s called The Bop Decameron and he’s just finalized the very impressive cast, many of which we were already aware of. The most exciting news is the confirmation that Allen himself will return to the screen after a few films off (his last one was 2006′s Scoop). He’ll star along with Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penélope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page. It’ll start filming in Rome next month.”

Very exciting news. Say what you will, I still love seeing Woody being Woody on camera, even with the man being in his mid 70’s.

From the LA Weekly article on Midnight In Paris

‘In the nearer term—this fall to be precise — Allen will find himself the subject of a two-part, three-hour American Masters documentary directed by Oscar nominee Robert Weide (Lenny Bruce: Swear to Tell the Truth), whom Allen granted unprecedented access to his personal and professional life during the making of last year’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. “Now, I say this with no false modesty: I can not imagine why anyone would want to see it,” Allen deadpans.’

(Christian’s eyes grow wide…maybe he even drools a bit) Can’t. Wait. Must. Watch.

Annie Hall matinee at the Music Box, Cemitas Pueblas for lunch, then spending the rest of the day in bed…I think we’ll have braved the outdoors enough for one day.

Woody’s Birthday at the Music Box. Yet another reason to love that theatre.
I think I’m more excited that the ladyfriend has never seen Annie Hall (which is a crime) and the first time she sees it will be on the big screen. I’m jealous of that experience.
